Travel to Cuba for tourist activities remains prohibited by statutes for American people. However, the Department of Treasury´s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued general licenses for 12 categories of travel. Individuals who meet the regulatory conditions of the general license they seek under, do not need to apply for an additional license from OFAC to travel to Cuba.

The 12 categories are:

• Family visit.
• Official Business of the U.S Government, foreign governments and certain intergovernmental organizations.
• Journalistic activities.
• Professional research and professional meetings.
• Educational activities.
• Religious activities.
• Public performances, clinics, workshop, athletic and other competitions and exhibitions.
• SUPPORT FOR THE CUBAN PEOPLE.
• Humanitarian projects
• Activities of private foundations or research or educational institutes.
• Exportation, importation or transmission of information or informational materials.
• Certain authorized export transactions.

The most commonly used category by American independent travelers is Support for the Cuban People. Once in Cuba you will participate in activities that are in the spirit of the category like:

• Stay in Casa Particular (B&B)
• Support local business (artists, vendors, musicians, etc.)
• Use local guides or local companies for tours
• Eat at local restaurants (paladares)
• Any other way you can find to support Cuban people.

• A copy of your Passport, valid for at least 6 months after your entrance date to Cuba.
• A completed and signed Cuban Visa application form. (on line)
• Your flight itinerary to and from Cuba.
• Visa processing fee.
• Travel authorization from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). We recommend the category Support for the Cuban People.
• Each application must present copy of Travel Insurance for the entire trip.

The standard processing time for Cuban Visas is 10 working days after your application.

There is no minimum or maximum number. We can arrange accommodation and tours for solo travelers or small groups. We will highly appreciate you let us know about it just to check availability.

Yes, we love children and we have special surprises for them. It is important you let us know. Just take into account that minors are not allowed in places like Cabarets, Jazz Clubs, bars and Cigar Factories.

The official currency in Cuba since January 1st, 2021 is the Cuban Peso or CUP, even though tourists hardly use it. You can exchange any foreign currency into the local one (CUP), taking into consideration the rate of the day. Some places like local markets, souvenir and cigar shops, taxis, private restaurants and bars accept any kind of currency, although they prefer to be paid in the foreign ones (USD, EUR, CAD, GBP, etc.). So it is to pay for all the services our company provides. It is important you to bring cash. Although you can get cash from ATMs or banks in the country, some cards don´t work in Cuba.

You will pay the amount agreed always at the end of the service, using the currency you prefer (USD, EUR, CAD, GBP, etc.), only cash. All services are different and personalized, so we will agree on the price in each case in advance. In the case of multi days tours, you must pay 50% of the price of the service first day and the other 50% last day. That does not include gratuities which are under your consideration. In the case of optional activities like visits to museums, night shows, restaurants, etc. payments must be done on the spots.

In the case of accommodation bookings, rooms with all the facilities (cold and hot water, TV, AC) are included. Besides that, in the rooms there is a freezer with some drinks (water, beers, rum, cokes) you must pay for in case you have them. In the case of the tours and round trips, transportation, professional tour guide in your language. The itineraries for all the tours, including all the activities to do are in our website (www.get2knowcuba.com), just bring some cash for extra expenses (food and drinks, souvenirs, cigars, rum, museums, etc.)

Absolutely!!!! We will be waiting for you up to one hours after the agreed pick-up time. In case you think it will take longer, you can let us know and then we can agree on a new pick-up time.

We provide transfers in-out, excursions and accommodations. We can pick you up at the airport, your accommodation (B&B or hotel), Cruise ship terminals, etc. as it is suggested in our website but if you prefer to make it differently, let us know in advance and we will be back to you. In our website we suggest time for the different activities but in this case, we are also forward to hear you. Your suggestions about time are important to provide the best service. At the end of the service, we will drive you back or drop you off wherever you decide.

If you book any activity with us, we are in charge of transporting you wherever you are going to and that is included in the price in the case of excursions and round trips. In the case you just want to be pick up at the airport or any other place, or you just want to move from one place to another, either inside the cities or to another province, we can also organize your transportation and then we can agree on the price you must pay for. If you want to do it your own, you can use local taxis or Viazul, a government bus company that also provides transportation. Even when hitchhiking is a very common practice in Cuba, we don´t recommend that.

Cuba has the reputation as a safe location for tourists and there are usually police officers on every corner. However, police will detain or even arrest Cubans who are harassing tourists on the street, cafes, night-clubs or around Malecon in Havana.

Yes, you can make any change to your booking regarding pick up place and time, places to visit or amount of people depending on your needs. Even in case you need to cancel your booking for any reason you can do it. We will appreciate you let us know about any change at least 24 hours in advance and we will be back to you with our comments and new confirmation. No charges will be applied in that case and we will be waiting for your next time. In case we get to pick you up and by any reason you have any NO SHOW, full price will be applied for the service. If you cancel your booking on spot without any advertisement, then 20% of the price agreed will be applied.

People always expect something extra for the services they provide, so tips are accepted and very welcome. Some people live only on tips. How much depends on your satisfaction and the service provided. You can also use any currency to tip (CUP, USD, EUR, CAD, GBP, etc.).

Please it would be very important that you inform us of the size of your luggage and quantity per person.  The type of transport we would use depends on this due to the trunk space.
